Christmas at the Lake House

There’s something extra magical about our first Christmas at The Lake House — twinkling lights reflecting off the windows, the scent of pine and holiday candles, and every corner styled to feel like a cozy Christmas cabin straight out of a Hallmark movie.

This year, we leaned fully into joyful living, nostalgia, and intentional design. With the kids still in elementary school, we wanted downstairs to feel like pure Christmas magic — the kind they’ll remember forever. If you've been with us for a while, you know joyful living has been at the core of our company from the start, as a way of design and life. 

Thanks to our friends at Levtex Home, who helped bring our holiday vision to life with their incredible bedding collections, the house feels layered, charming, and wonderfully nostalgic. Their quilts reminded us so much of the handmade pieces Tyson’s mom used to make in the 90s — warm, soft, and full of heart.

Here’s a look inside our Christmas decorating at The Lake House — and ideas you can bring into your own home.

The Living Room: Cozy, Classic, and Full of Heart

For the main gathering space, we wanted a look that blended elevated design with that “come sit by the fire awhile” ease.

A soft neutral palette keeps the room grounded, while greenery, candlelight, and metallic accents bring in warmth and glow.

The Christmas tree is intentionally neutral but charming — a mix of matte and shiny ornaments, layered to feel personal and lived-in. Oversized pillows turn the sofa into the ultimate holiday-movie spot.

Almost all the accessories — candles, ornaments, accents — came straight from the House Sprucing Store, available in person or as part of our holiday decorating services.

The Kitchen & Dining: Effortless Entertaining

The kitchen is always a favorite gathering place at The Lake House, but during the holidays it becomes the heart of joyful living.

We added holiday accessories throughout, to bring the magic of the season to life (and they’re all available at the HS Store!)

In the dining room, you’ll find garland with twinkle lights, holiday pillows, and a magical tablescape with dreamy Christmas taper candles to elevate everyday meals into memorable ones.

The Primary Bedroom & Bathroom: A Monochromatic Christmas Moment

The primary bathroom is a stunning monochromatic green — so we carried that tone into the bedroom with Levtex Home’s bedding, which pairs beautifully with our Jaipur Living rug (part of our HS collaboration with them).

The space feels calm and intentional, grounded in earthy tones but layered with soft holiday accents.

We used Maxim Lighting and Lucida Services when we remodeled the space, which make the room feel so elevated. Furniture and window treatments from Union Home Furnishings and Cutarra complete the room, giving it the warm, high-end lodge feel we were looking for.

The Bunk Room: A Nostalgic Christmas Cabin for the Kids

Because the kids are all still in elementary school, we wanted the bunk room to feel whimsical, cozy, and full of wonder— like waking up in a Christmas cabin.

Thanks again to Levtex Home, the bedding transformed the room instantly. The quilts have that distinctly nostalgic, 90s charm we absolutely love.

This year, we also switched out the gallery walls and updated the rug, layering in fresh textures and pattern for the holiday season.

The incredible bunks from Icon Bunks, along with furnishings and accents from Union Home Furnishings and window treatments from Cutarra, helped the room feel both functional and magical.

Bringing It All Together: A Home Rooted in Joy and Intention

Christmas at The Lake House is a reminder that holiday decorating doesn’t have to be over the top — it just has to be intentional. By focusing on what matters — warmth, texture, nostalgia, and family — you can create a home that feels festive and timeless.
