The House Sprucing Edit | August 9th, 2026
Welcome to The House Sprucing Edit—a thoughtfully curated collection of stories, inspiration, favorite finds, and the little moments filling my creative cup.
Think of this as an invitation inside our world, where design, home, travel, and everyday life come together. Some editions may take you behind the scenes of a project, while others might share places that have inspired me, pieces I'm loving lately, or the simple rituals that have made a season feel especially memorable.
I'm so happy you're here.
Project Update: A little peek behind what's coming next.
We're getting so close to sharing one of our biggest projects yet—our Fujikawa Home Remodel.
After dreaming, designing, and living through construction, we're finally nearing the moment we get to invite you inside. Every decision, every layer, and every detail has been so intentional, and I truly can't wait to share the finished spaces with you.
For now, consider this your little teaser. You're the first to know, and I promise it'll be worth the wait.
Stay tuned... we're almost there.
Around the Showroom: Beautifully designed. Comfortably lived.
One of the things I'm most excited about right now is our newest collection of custom sofa silhouettes.
When you walk into the showroom, I don't just want you to see them—I want you to sit down, feel the fabrics, experience the comfort, and understand what makes them so special.
Each piece is upholstered in beautiful, family-friendly performance fabrics and handcrafted right here in America. They're designed to be timeless, comfortable, and built to last through everyday life.
If you've been thinking about updating your living room or simply want to experience the quality in person, we'd love to welcome you into the showroom.
We're open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Inspired By: The places quietly shaping the way I design.
Every summer we spend time near Tyson's hometown along the Southern California coast, and over the years it's become one of our favorite family traditions.
Slow beach mornings, salty air, and long days outside always seem to refill my creative cup.
This year, though, I found myself especially inspired by the charming coastal neighborhood where we're staying.
Nestled right along the ocean, it feels like a hidden European village—full of timeless architecture, beautiful craftsmanship, and endless character. Being just steps from our beach house has meant I get to wander those quiet streets every morning, and each walk leaves me noticing another thoughtful detail.
I couldn't stop admiring the weathered cedar shake roofs, hand-troweled stucco, painted windows, charming leaded glass details, handcrafted millwork, brick pathways, artisan tile house numbers, citrus trees, and beautifully painted front doors.
Every home felt as though it had been lovingly collected over time—layered with history, craftsmanship, and unmistakable European seaside charm.
Nature has been inspiring me just as much.
The seafoam greens, weathered blues, sandy neutrals, and soft morning light have quietly become the color palette of our summer.
Sailor and I have spent our mornings gathering plumeria, jasmine, and tuberose along our beach walks to make homemade perfume together. We've also been collecting seashells and sea glass, creating little pieces of seashell art that we'll bring home to display in her room and in the lake house back in Texas.
Those are the kinds of moments I never want to rush through.
Of course, if you know me, you also know I can't stay on the shore for long. You'll usually find me out in the waves with Tyson and our kids—laughing, catching waves, and making memories together.
I love beautiful homes, but I also love living boldly. Getting sandy, wet, salty, and embracing every adventure.
To me, that's what joyful living has always been about.
Loving Lately: A few finds inspired by a European summer.
One thing I love about traveling is how inspiration has a way of carrying over into every part of life—not just our homes, but the pieces we wear, the colors we're drawn to, and the little details that make everyday life feel beautiful.
Lately, I've been inspired by effortless European summer style: timeless silhouettes, natural textures, soft neutrals, and thoughtfully crafted pieces that feel collected rather than trendy. There's something about that relaxed, understated approach that feels just as at home in a wardrobe as it does in a beautifully designed space.
These are just a few pieces I've been loving lately and saving for inspiration—and perhaps offer a little glimpse into the timeless European influence you'll begin to see woven throughout our upcoming Fujikawa Home Remodel.

Favorite Things: Beach House Protein Açaí Bowl
Some recipes become favorites because they're delicious.
Others become favorites because of the memories that surround them.
This one has become a little bit of both.
If there's one thing I've been making on repeat this summer, it's homemade açaí bowls. They've become one of my favorite little rituals, whether I'm starting the morning with my gratitude journal and a beautiful view or making a batch when friends and family stop by the beach house.
One of my favorite discoveries has been the Pitaya Foods frozen smoothie packs (not sponsored—I genuinely love them!). Their Açaí and Dragon Fruit Mango bases each have 10 grams of protein, making them a fun way to hit my protein goals while still feeling like a treat.
Their Chocolate Banana base tastes just like Nutella and has become another family favorite.
Make It Your Own
Swap in the Chocolate Banana base for a dessert-inspired version that tastes like Nutella.
Use whatever berries are fresh from the market.
Add coconut flakes, sliced almonds, hemp hearts, or cacao nibs for extra crunch.
Finish with overnight oats or chia seeds for even more protein.
One Last Thought
The secret isn't really the recipe.
It's creating a little moment around it.
I love serving mine in a beautiful bowl with my favorite spoon, sitting outside with my gratitude journal, or sharing them with family and friends after a morning at the beach.
Sometimes it's the smallest rituals that become the sweetest memories.
Thanks for spending a little time with me today. I hope something from this edition inspired you—whether it was a beautiful home, a thoughtful detail, a favorite recipe, or simply the reminder to slow down and enjoy the season you're in.
Until next time,
Heather
