The Lake House Reveal: Downstairs Bunk Room

If you’ve been following along, you already know The Lake House is a cozy, tree-wrapped escape tucked near Lake Texoma. But let’s talk about one of the most fun (and hardest working!) rooms in the house: the downstairs bunk room.

This space was designed with sleepovers, sibling bonding, and late-night card games in mind. Because when you’ve got a house full of kids, cousins, and guests — you need a room that pulls double (or triple) duty.

Built to Sleep (and Play)

We partnered with ICON Bunks to create the perfect custom bunk beds — handcrafted, incredibly safe, and able to comfortably sleep four. These are not your average squeaky camp bunks. ICON Bunks’ pieces are made with solid wood in Bozeman, Montana, and designed to last. They’re part of our go-to for beautiful, built-to-last kid-friendly spaces — and their “Bed for a Bed” program makes us love them even more.

To add even more flexibility, we brought in a sofa sleeper, perfect for extra guests or a kid who snores too loud. (We all know one.) The one we used is available at the House Sprucing Store - along with other fan-favorite sofas! You can shop them here.

Layers of Cozy, Function + Style

It’s not just about where you sleep — it’s how the space feels. We layered in soft textiles, smart lighting, and storage that works as hard as the kids who’ll be running through here barefoot all summer long.

Here’s who helped us bring the bunk room to life:

  • Lucida Surfaces for the durable and beautiful floors that can handle foot traffic, snack crumbs, and the occasional juice box disaster.

  • Bedsure Home for the soft, high-quality bedding that makes every bunk feel cozy and inviting.

  • Ginger Sparrow for the playful pillows that add texture and personality to the room.

  • Maxim Lighting for lighting that keeps things bright, warm, and ready for game night.

  • Curtarra for window treatments that let us control the light while keeping things stylish.

  • Our collab with Jaipur Living for the statement rugs that ground the space and bring it all together with warmth and pattern.

And yes, we carved out a comfy lounge space with seating perfect for games, reading, or dramatic retellings of campfire stories.
